Certes, cette mention est principalement usit\u00e9e pour indiquer la provenance d\u2019une image, mais elle traduit deux r\u00e9alit\u00e9s. Premi\u00e8rement, que le fonctionnement et la segmentation des projets Wikimedia restent obscurs pour un large public\u00a0: en effet, les documents multim\u00e9dias sont dans la majorit\u00e9 des cas h\u00e9berg\u00e9s sur Wikimedia Commons et non pas directement sur Wikip\u00e9dia. Secondement, que la page Wikip\u00e9dia ayant fait usage de l\u2019image, sans doute en rapport avec le sujet pr\u00e9sent\u00e9, a \u00e9t\u00e9 consult\u00e9e et jug\u00e9e suffisamment pertinente pour en r\u00e9utiliser une des images de pr\u00e9sentation. C\u2019est ce second point que j\u2019aimerai approfondir au cours de ce billet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il n\u2019est plus n\u00e9cessaire aujourd\u2019hui de pr\u00e9senter Wikip\u00e9dia, une encyclop\u00e9die collaborative en ligne&nbsp;: existant depuis plus de 20 ans, elle occupe le podium des sites les plus visit\u00e9s au monde depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es. Les controverses initiales sur son manque de fiabilit\u00e9, sans \u00eatre totalement \u00e9teintes, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 largement rejet\u00e9es (Giles 2005). Pourtant, Wikip\u00e9dia souffre encore de cette r\u00e9putation et est pratiquement bannie du monde acad\u00e9mique&nbsp;: quel \u00e9tudiant n&#8217;a pas entendu ses professeurs le mettre en garde contre son utilisation pour un travail \u00e0 rendre&nbsp;? De fait, ceux-ci ont si bien r\u00e9ussi que la mention de Wikip\u00e9dia en contexte universitaire ne manque pas de faire hausser les sourcils&nbsp;; pire, on devient rapidement m\u00e9fiant sur la fiabilit\u00e9 m\u00eame de l\u2019information. Et c\u2019est tant mieux&nbsp;!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Information literacy<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans une d\u00e9marche acad\u00e9mique, une approche critique du contenu d\u2019une page Wikip\u00e9dia est un des nombreux reflets de l\u2019<em>information literacy<\/em>. Forg\u00e9 en 1974 par P. G. Zurkowski (Zurkowski 1974), ce concept est r\u00e9v\u00e9lateur de l\u2019explosion informationnelle de notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9 et de nos besoins \u00e0 s\u2019y adapter. Pour autant, la d\u00e9finition de l\u2019<em>information literacy<\/em> a connu de nombreuses fluctuations ; les difficult\u00e9s \u00e0 traduire ce terme en fran\u00e7ais illustrent d\u2019ailleurs une distance culturelle entre le monde anglophone et francophone (Lehmans 2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour un public anglo-saxon, l\u2019<em>information literacy<\/em> est surtout affaire de comp\u00e9tences&nbsp;; ainsi, la D\u00e9claration de Prague, en 2003, d\u00e9finit le concept comme \u00ab&nbsp;la reconnaissance de ses besoins d\u2019information et les capacit\u00e9s d\u2019identifier, de trouver, d\u2019\u00e9valuer et d\u2019organiser l\u2019information \u2013 ainsi que de la cr\u00e9er, de l\u2019utiliser et de la communiquer efficacement en vue de traiter des questions ou des probl\u00e8mes qui se posent&nbsp;\u00bb (Thompson 2003, traduction P. Bernhard). Pour le monde francophone au contraire, le concept \u00e9voque plut\u00f4t un ensemble de connaissances&nbsp;: \u00ab&nbsp;la culture de l\u2019information reconna\u00eet \u00e0 l\u2019information \u2013 vue sous ses diff\u00e9rentes d\u00e9clinaisons d\u2019activit\u00e9, support, relation, contenu, etc., le statut de m\u00e9tacomp\u00e9tence, englobant la r\u00e9flexion, la pens\u00e9e critique, la communication efficace, la r\u00e9solution de probl\u00e8mes, la capacit\u00e9 cr\u00e9ative et la sociabilit\u00e9, en vue de permettre \u00e0 l\u2019individu d\u2019\u00e9difier sa capacit\u00e9 d\u2019adaptation et de r\u00e9silience, dans des environnements turbulents et \u00e0 l\u2019aide de technologies \u00e9volutives&nbsp;\u00bb (Liqu\u00e8te 2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans un cas comme dans l\u2019autre, les chercheurs sont univoques&nbsp;: c\u2019est par l\u2019\u00e9ducation que toute comp\u00e9tence ou connaissance de l\u2019information doit s\u2019inculquer. Cela est d\u2019autant plus critique pour une population jeune et plus vuln\u00e9rable \u00e0 la d\u00e9sinformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"353\" height=\"347\" src=\"https:\/\/campus.hesge.ch\/blog-master-is\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4006\" srcset=\"https:\/\/campus.hesge.ch\/blog-master-is\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-1.png 353w, https:\/\/campus.hesge.ch\/blog-master-is\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-1-300x295.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 353px) 100vw, 353px\" \/><figcaption>Source&nbsp;de l\u2019image : <a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/File:Illustration_of_Reading_Wikipedia_in_the_Classroom_60.png\">Wikimedia Commons<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Et Wikip\u00e9dia, dans tout \u00e7a&nbsp;?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Wikip\u00e9dia est <em>de facto<\/em> une porte d\u2019entr\u00e9e sur de nombreux sujets&nbsp;pour les \u00e9l\u00e8ves et les \u00e9tudiants&nbsp;: accessibles en quelques clics sur Internet, ses pages d\u2019ailleurs souvent en t\u00eate des requ\u00eates sur les moteurs de recherche, l\u2019encyclop\u00e9die en ligne pr\u00e9sente un ratio co\u00fbt-b\u00e9n\u00e9fice in\u00e9gal\u00e9 pour toutes les personnes recherchant une information. \u00c9l\u00e8ves et \u00e9tudiants en font un large usage, tant en contexte scolaire qu\u2019au dehors. Une \u00e9tude note que leur \u00e2ge influence deux facteurs&nbsp;: plus il augmente, plus l\u2019usage de Wikip\u00e9dia s\u2019accro\u00eet, tout comme, paradoxalement, leur m\u00e9fiance sur la qualit\u00e9 des informations qu\u2019on peut y trouver, mais uniquement si cela concerne une t\u00e2che \u00e0 accomplir en milieu scolaire. Cette m\u00e9fiance limit\u00e9e \u00e0 un contexte est principalement expliqu\u00e9e par l\u2019influence souvent n\u00e9gative de la figure d\u2019autorit\u00e9 que sont leurs enseignants (Mothe, Sahut 2018).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consciente de cela, la Wikimedia Foundation, l&#8217;organisation \u00e0 but non lucratif h\u00e9bergeant entre autres Wikip\u00e9dia, a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 un programme intitul\u00e9 <em>Reading Wikipedia in the Classroom<\/em>&nbsp;: constitu\u00e9 de trois modules couvrant l\u2019acc\u00e8s, l\u2019\u00e9valuation et la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019information, il s\u2019int\u00e8gre dans le cadre du plan d\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jNyIupj7OGA&amp;t=16s\"><em>\u00c9ducation aux m\u00e9dias et \u00e0 l&#8217;information<\/em><\/a> port\u00e9 par l\u2019UNESCO (UNESCO 2022). Le but du programme est de d\u00e9velopper la confiance et l\u2019usage de Wikip\u00e9dia chez les enseignants, afin qu\u2019ils puissent capitaliser sur l\u2019usage fait de Wikip\u00e9dia par leurs \u00e9l\u00e8ves pour leur enseigner les bases de l\u2019<em>information literacy<\/em>. \u00c0 terme, tant enseignants qu\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ves d\u00e9veloppent les connaissances n\u00e9cessaires pour appr\u00e9hender de mani\u00e8re critique une information pr\u00e9sente dans une page Wikip\u00e9dia et pour pouvoir contribuer en suivant les r\u00e8gles et exigences de l\u2019encyclop\u00e9die en ligne, notamment en mani\u00e8re de sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wikip\u00e9dia n\u2019est toutefois qu\u2019une petite partie de l\u2019iceberg&nbsp;et peut-\u00eatre la moins dangereuse&nbsp;: il est \u00e0 souhaiter que cet enseignement de l\u2019<em>information literacy <\/em>soit durable et qu\u2019il puisse \u00eatre appliqu\u00e9 par les \u00e9l\u00e8ves \u00e0 tous types de m\u00e9dias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bibliographie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>GILES, Jim, 2005.
