As shown in the figure below, health commodities flow from international and domestic suppliers (upstream) to the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Service (EPSS), which serves as the central agency responsible for procurement, warehousing, and nationwide distribution (midstream). From there, commodities are distributed through regional branches to reach public health facilities (downstream).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1005\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/campus.hesge.ch\/cles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image001-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1212\" style=\"width:707px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/campus.hesge.ch\/cles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image001-1.png 1005w, https:\/\/campus.hesge.ch\/cles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image001-1-300x176.png 300w, https:\/\/campus.hesge.ch\/cles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image001-1-768x451.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1005px) 100vw, 1005px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>EPSS operates 19 regional branches strategically positioned across Ethiopia, serving as the key logistical hubs that link central warehouses to thousands of healthcare facilities (downstream). These encompass a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program aimed at improving the skills of current healthcare and logistics professionals; Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs designed to equip a skilled workforce for operational roles within the supply chain; and a Master\u2019s program in Healthcare Supply Chain Management (HSCM) that focuses on cultivating advanced managerial and analytical skills.
