Y:\u00a0It\u2019s quite a cheap one I guess.<\/p>\n
X:\u00a0I wouldn\u2019t buy that, the design of the can looks disgusting.<\/p>\n
Y:\u00a0Yes but It\u2019s one of those you can buy the big 24 packs at Denner.<\/p>\n
X:\u00a0It\u2019s not Anker or 1291, it\u2019s some German brand I think.<\/p>\n
Y:\u00a0Yeah, but they all are at about the same price level.

\nY:\u00a0My father always bought the Prix Garantie Lager, the 24 pack with half liter cans.
\nWith the reasoning behind that he doesn\u2019t drink it because of the taste but because of the thirst.<\/p>\n
X:\u00a0That\u2019s a funny way to put it.
\nSo it was actually just alcohol that he wanted, water wouldn\u2019t have cured the cause.<\/p>\n
Y:\u00a0Exactly, thirst for him equalled alcohol.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s maybe why he didn\u2019t care what the beer tasted like because either way he always bought the cheapest one. And after the first 2 or 3 you won’t know the difference anyway.

\nX:\u00a0But what I don\u2019t get is, why he did it that way?
\nSince for him the important part was to drink alcohol, it was something he enjoyed, a habit that was\u00a0part of his everyday life. He must have made a choice at some point, consciously or unconsciously.
\nWhy did he choose to drink the cheapest beer?<\/p>\n
Y:\u00a0I think because he calculated how much his consumption would cost him annually and he then found this the most\u00a0appealing to choose the cheapest one.
\n(Wind blows through the tops of the trees that are filled with sunlight)
\nX:\u00a0But I always thought that when you care about something you develop a kind of interest for it. Like when I\u2019m passionate or obsessed with something, I always tend to go with what I deeply enjoy.\u00a0It\u2019s not like he wasn\u2019t working, he was financially stable. He had all options.<\/p>\n
Y:\u00a0Yeah but he\u2019s not that kind of person. All the other options would have been irrational
\nfor him.<\/p>\n
But of course there are many people who have a different approach when it comes to alcoholism.
\nFor example the ones who buy a lot of expensive wine and then drink even more of that expensive wine so that they can keep buying more and more.
\nAnd all with the excuse that it\u2019s about the taste, that\u00a0it\u2019s a hobby or even better an investment.<\/p>\n
X:\u00a0Yeah that\u2019s more how my father deals with his alcoholism, he doesn\u2019t want to face it.
\nHe\u2019s not very honest with himself in that way.<\/p>\n
Y:\u00a0Maybe one could then say that buying the cheapest beer is the most honest approach to alcoholism.<\/p>\n
X:\u00a0Yeah that might be true.

\nY:\u00a0I would just go for vodka and water, I think there you have the best money\/alcohol ratio.<\/p>\n
X:\u00a0Yeah but it\u2019s a question of preferences. Plus drinking a bottle of vodka everyday isn\u2019t really a thing\u00a0in our culture, maybe in Russia you could do that.<\/p>\n
Y:\u00a0Yeah maybe, actually I have no clue how much beer one drinks in Russia.<\/p>\n
X:\u00a0Yeah me neither.<\/p>\n
Y:\u00a0Yeah about Russia we don\u2019t know shit.

\nAs he fell asleep and the artificial birds kept singing, the internet had won again.<\/p>\n
