With a background in mathematical engineering , Alexandre Caboussat is an associate professor UAS in management science. Alexandre Caboussat has graduated from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) with a MS degree in applied mathematics. He has then obtained his PhD in applied mathematics and scientific computing from EPFL.

Before working at HEG, he has spent many years at the University of Houston, Texas as an assistant professor of mathematics. Then he has been involved in the creation of Ycoor Systems SA, a spin-off of EPFL based in Sierre.

His research activities include the analysis and implementation of practical solutions for the solution and optimization of complex systems, at the interface between academics and industry. His fields of research include scientific computing , applied mathematics, optimization, and industrial and environmental applications. He is managing research projects and supervising PhD students and scientific collaborators.

His administrative duties consisted of the management of an academic department in a higher degree institution that involves more than 80 professors and lecturers, and more than 400 undergraduate students (chairman during the period 2013-2021). He is now coordinator of the minor in management of innovation, and the co-director of the executive program CAS in Digital Transformation.

His teaching activities include general courses in mathematics and statistics at the Bachelor level and in executive programs, as well as more specialized courses in numerical analysis, scientific computing and optimization at the MS level, and many seminar presentations.
